Time to get photo ready!

Bella Life photographers are experts at capturing the real, beautiful moments that make your family unique. We’re not aiming for perfection. We’re after connection, joy, and the little details that tell your story.

That said, a little preparation can go a long way in helping your session feel relaxed and fun for everyone (including you!). In this guide, you'll find all of our top tips to help you prepare for your Bella Life session.

Not sure what to wear? We've got tips for choosing your outfits too!

Big smiles start with little comforts

  • Stick to routines (as much as possible). Well-rested, well-fed kids are the happiest models. Try not to squeeze in a session over nap time or stretch too far past mealtime. It rarely ends well for anyone.

  • Snacks = session superpower. Bring easy, mess-free snacks like puffs, fruit leather, or mini crackers. Skip the sticky, melty, or crumbly stuff (Sorry, chocolate and granola bars. You’re tasty, but not camera friendly).

  • Choose clothes that fit well, move easily, and feel good. If something itches, pinches, or sparks a meltdown before the first photo ditch it. Comfortable and smiling is better than polished and pouting.

Set the stage for happy smiles

  • Instead of the “be on your best behavior” talk, set the stage with fun. Tell your kids you’re meeting a new friend who’ll snap photos while you play, cuddle, and laugh together.

  • Your energy is contagious. If you’re excited, relaxed, and ready to embrace the moment, they will be too.

Prep your “just in case” kit

  • Mess-free snacks and water (already mentioned, but worth repeating!)

  • Wipes and tissues for quick clean ups

  • A favorite toy or lovey (instant comfort and a cute bonus prop)

  • A back up outfit for babies and toddlers because accidents happen

  • Patience and a sense of humor for all the chaotic moments along the way

Most of all, remember: perfection isn’t the goal. Some of the best images come from silly faces, shy snuggles, or mid-giggle chaos. Relax, have fun with your people, and trust us to gently guide the rest.
